We’re Movin’! You’ll Never Guess Where!

aul has been working with multiple people to secure a new position within his current line of work since deploying in July of last year. After nearly 18 months of jumping through one hoop after another, and turning down one offer to be given another, the odious opus of offers landed in my husband's lap while we were on opposite coasts just weeks before Thanksgiving. The weeks following that, have passed in a whirlwind for our family, to say the least.

We announced Thanksgiving Day to my husband's family, a few friends, my sister, and brother in law that we would be relocating to the New Jersey area following the acceptance of an Engineer position offered just prior to Thanksgiving. It was entirely unexpected, as Paul was pursuing a different position at the time. Nonetheless, it is not one that we could say no to. This offer enables my husband to finish his BA in Engineering, in addition to a few pay raises between now and then, following that achievement. And, let's be honest here, getting out of California is what Paul and I both agree is best for our family. We are looking forward to this move as it presents new opportunities for all of us.

On that note, I wish I could snap my fingers and be finished packing. I'm 17 tubs into this process. In fact, I started the week we came home from keeping my niece and nephew while their parents celebrated their 10 year anniversary at Walt Disney World. There is little left to pack at this point. It doesn't appear that way. Purging is a beautiful thing, just so ya know. And thanks to the genius idea I had to use the clothes too small for Ethan but too big for David as packing materials allowed me to get a head start. This is saving quite us quite a bit of money. 😅
Something else I decided, was to pack roughly a week's worth of clothes with extra chonies and socks for the man cubs in a suitcase, and put everything else in tubs. May seem like a waste, but laundry is not my favorite chore. Therefore, if I can get away with 1 load every 2 days, versus 2 every day because the man cubs throw their clothes off wherever they please, plus Paul's work clothes, and never knowing for sure what's clean or dirty in the floor, I'm gonna save myself the work. I'm gonna do this with mine and Paul's clothes as well. I only need the comfy stuff and a pair of jeans. Paul only needs work clothes and pjs. Everything extra can just go in a tub for later. It's amazing what you can find you can do without when you're trying to save yourself the rush to finish packing.

Ah, speaking of rushing. We do not have an official timeline. The move will happen early next year, but that's all we know at the moment. I lovingly told my husband we are not getting caught with our pants down. I've already started packing. I ain't slowing down even without the official move date. I am not gonna rush around here to be properly packed after procrastinating too long with 4 man cubs who still need all the basics plus their school lessons kept on track. It ain't happenin.' Nope. Ain't nobody got time for that. Shoot, we've already got our broker and realtor lined up, the house to dos written down, and phone numbers to make appointments to git r dun. All I'm waiting on is the green light.
Speaking of which, anyone want some layer hens? We cannot manage 7 chickens on a 2700 mile drive. Yes, we're driving. Someone is gonna drive all our things for us, but we'll be driving to our new location otherwise. The chickens won't make it. Unbeknownst to my children, we have to find them new homes. Need a chicken, let me know. Got a good size coop for sale as well. ;)

Paul is currently in New Jersey for work. He'll be looking around there and Pennsylvania for our new home. Not gonna lie, but we kinda have a place in mind already. How funny is that? 4 bed/3 bath 4,500 sq ft with a fully finished basement and 2 acres AWAY FROM PEOPLE? Yeah...If I am confident I can spit through my neighbor's window from my own, you are too close. I'll let y'all in on a little secret. 2 acres is past my personal spitting range record. 😏

Needless to say, we are excited! Anxious, but excited. I'm proud of Paul. He's worked hard for this opportunity. This will be an awfully big adventure.
