Hi, I’m the ever ferocious, espresso

driven Momma Bear!

I’ve been married for twelve years and am “mom” to four man cubs. We’re a home schoolin’ family. We’re a “do most everything ourselves or from scratch” family. We’re weird. Or, I’m weird, rather. And everyone else is learnin’ the ways of the Force.

When I started doin’ “all of this” ages ago, I had no idea how much people would enjoy readin’ about our feral shenanigans. And how much people would need the laughs and inspiration, for that matter.

At one time, much of what I do in our home was a way of life—not a “lifestyle.” I’m one of those “old souls” in some ways. I prefer a simpler life. I don’t need all the things our society is convinced that we need in order to be happy. Which is a huge reason as to why my original social media niche began expandin’ into this blog. There is so much to share about our way of life—how we save ourselves time, money, and sanity while home schoolin’, and cookin’ from scratch, makin’ our bath & body products, and survivin’ parenthood in general. There are simply so many movin’ parts. And where I have figured out what best works for us, I share it with the world.

Influencin’ people to be involved in the lives of their children, creatin’ memories at home, and simply livin’ without all the extra unnecessary things is somethin’ I take great pride in. My family is my passion. And I hope with each new inspiration that comes to mind, you find that same kinda passion!

Welcome to Homegrown & Feral!

My Life Approach

I’m quite the realist when it comes to everything house and home.
If I can’t reuse it, I don’t need it. If I can’t find a practical place for it in our home, I’m gettin’ rid of it.
Our house is a home, not a storage unit.
Home cooked meals usin’ REAL food ingredients is a non negotiable in my home.
I DO menu plan, but don’t always follow it.
Non toxic cookware and glass for storage are another non negotiable in my home.
Everyone helps out around the house.
It is not only my job, homemaker or no.
We all live here and therefore bear a responsibility to the upkeep of our home.
Chores are a necessity in teachin’ responsibility to children.
And finally, turn off the frickin’ electronics and take your butt outside!
Read a book! Build a fort! Learn an instrument!
Go live the life you have now and stop losin’ yourself to the alternate reality that is TV, video games, and doom scrollin’ social media!

Simplify Your Home

Pinterest homes don’t exist. They just don’t! Your home does not need to be high end. Your kids don’t need a playroom for all their junk. Your home is gonna have dishes in the sink, laundry on the table, and the occasional filth to clean up. It’s ok! Do life and enjoy it! Stop worryin’ about what everyone else has and what everyone else is doin’! Focus on your family!

Kitchen Shenanigans

All the shenanigans! Get your kids in the kitchen with you. Make a menu plan, or don’t! Take the time to prepare a meal and share it with your family and friends. And don’t forget to goof off while you’re doin’ it!

All Hands on Deck

The entire family contributes to the responsibilities in the home. You live here. You have a responsibility to your home. Full stop. Gender irrelevant. I will die on this hill!
